Developing the Design for your Food Process

Defining your food process equipment and installation requirements

Food process design documents establish the requirements for procuring and installing your food production equipment. These design documents for the process will include drawings and documentation suitable for obtaining pricing from vendors, procurement of the equipment, and installation of the equipment. In general these documents include:

Equipment Layouts

Drawings showing the layout and stack diagrams showing the elevations for food production equipment

Equipment Specifications

Information on the make, model, and specifications for the food production equipment

P&IDs

Process and Instrumentation Diagrams indicating connections and equipment, instrumentation, valve, and piping identifications

Controls

Control logic, I/O points, and specifications for PLC's and HMI's

Utilities

Drawings indicating electrical, compressed air, water,  drainage, exhaust, dust, and gas utility system connections

Structural

Drawings and details indicating equipment support, building framing,  access platforms, and stairs
